Eligibility criteria

Any student in the age group 15-19 years as on 31st December 2013 can register to compete. Please note that if qualified for the final round, the student will have to provide a legal age proof attested by a school principal/ director. Failing which, the student will be automatically disqualified.

Format

On 22nd September 2013, each student will be allocated a room in which they will fight fellow young physicists from all over the world. Students in each room will be given a Video on a Physics Activity to watch and analyze. The video will consist of description of a physical phenomenon as well as a list of physics concepts associated with it. The students will then have seven days to study the concepts via the various learning resources provided by IAPT and prepare for their fights.

On the day of the fight, the fight window will remain open for 12 hours (from 1200 noon to 1200 midnight IST) – during which the student can login once (and only once) to attempt the fight. Each fight will consist of 20 questions to be attempted in 30 minutes. The questions will be based on the concepts used in the video for each room. The list of the winners will be released the next day, and the selected students will proceed to the next round of fight which will follow the same format. The round structure is as follows:

Round 1 – 20 Rooms – 50% appearing students to qualify for round 2

Round 2 – 10 Rooms – 50% appearing students to qualify for round 3

Round 3 – 1 Room – Top 100 students to qualify for round 4

Round 4 – Paper & Pen Round at Jaipur – Declaration of Recognition Medal winners

Round 5 – Paper & Pen Round at Jaipur– Declaration of Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals winners

Pattern for Paper & Pen Rounds

Round 4 will consist of a 1 Hr paper on theoretical Physics which will consist of 50 Multiple choice questions.

Round 5 will consist of a 1 Hr paper on Numerical and Application based Physics which will consist of 50 Multiple choice questions based on Comprehension based concepts.
